agree - built this and cover it nightly, works like a charm, they have taken to shaking their heads and making a small mess/pile around the feeder, but they dig and scratch and eventually eat it from the mulch.I use a gravity-fed PVC feeder

Ok thank you I'll do that!Yup, they probably just need more feed per day! With 23 birds, producing eggs, then try 4 -5 scoops , putting at least half that into a feed container so it can be removed if not eaten.
About how many cups does this hold? Sorry...its hard to tell from the picture. Can you measure how many cups one scoop holds?
