Finally found the sound on YouTube. Am giving the link. Apparently it comes from a juvenile great horned owl. Think I saw one flying in the trees at dusk the other night right before the girls went to bed. It was huge!!! I've heard barred owls hoot here, but had no idea we had great horned owls in this area. So interesting!

I am excited! My EE pullet born in May has now made a nice nest out of the straw in the nesting box.... Hope to see her first egg in the next couple of days or so!
