Hen Got Attacked From Person Trespassing

i would also get a dog he would stop then.. i used to have the same problem then i got my boxer he is three years old now and i caught a kid messing with him just out of his reach. just some random kid down the street and i told him one day im going to let him off his leash and you are not going to like what he does, dozzer the boxer would not hurt him but probley lick him to death but he loves to jump on people till they fall. so one day i seen him walking down the road so i went outside and this could have not worked out any better, i unhooked dozzer and told him to wait, and he looked at me like ok this is going to be fun. he let the kid walk almost all the way up to him where he usally messes with him and the kid stoped.. i am watching this out of my back door, and the kids face was priceless when he noticed the leash was not on him, the kid slowley took a step back and dozzer the boxer stood up the boy went to take another step and dozzer took o step with his head to the ground, the little boy turned to run and before he could take another step dozzer had done took him to the ground. and just stood there and looked back at me, so i ran out there to act if i was going to save the little boy, and he said man that dog is fast, now he comes to the door and ask to go pet him instead of teasing him.. but here is a picture of him would you come in his yard if you did not know how he acts...

Thanks for all of your support. She is still doing good. I will look over that thread and luckily I only used the peroxide once.

wow, ppl just climb over your fence to play with your chickens? What is he doing back there? A long time ago my parents had a house that was backed up to another neighborhood... A lot of kids from the other neighborhood would climb over the fence to get to our side of the street. They used it as a passway from neighborhood to neighborhood . My parents never yelled at them, they were big teenager and she was afraid of what type of teenage revenge they would pull... So she got a rescue dog from the shelter that would bark up a crazy storm when they came near the fence. After that, they used the neighbors yard.

Borrow a dog and chain it to the fence... they guy will use someone Else's yard or find someone Else's chickens to play with. Maybe he is hungry and looking for eggs to eat... I don't know... ppl are creepy. lol

glad to hear she 's on the mend.

it doesn't matter "what" he was doing... he was trespassing on private property and creating not only a nuisance, but a dangerous condition for your animals, and potentially your neighbors animals. you do need to post your property in order to make criminal trespassing charges stick in most states, otherwise it's considered criminal mischief... both are somewhat petty charges, however, the hurt bird raises it more than a notch. Unfortunately, chickens aren't protected by buster's law... but chicken thieving is still a crime, regardless.

Post your property asap. borrow a field camera and document any further instances. What other people say about him not really being "mean" is speculation, and they do not have a wounded animal to care for as you do...

She'll pull through because she's had good care from day one living with you and was healthy to begin with, has a good life to fight for and you to make sure the wound is attended to...

you can also dig a small pit where he hops the fence... maybe an additional 4 foot fall will wake him up... except then you might have a problem if HE gets hurt on your property... what a crazy world we live in...

I feel your frustration, I have one part time neighbor who only comes up here during hunting season and he brings about a dozen citiots with him who tromp through my POSTED property like it's nothing. a few years back, I chased a bunch of them off with a little daisy buck BB gun... my neighbor came over later and asked me why I was threatening his guests with a sawed off shotgun... i 'bout peed myself laughing... knuckleheads! but they did stop trespassing...

I can get a sign...right now I have a chicken crossing sign, will that suffice for for now? They are in my backyard and the signs near a shed...by the coop.

you can get all kinds of signs... like the one someone posted with the dog getting to the fence in 3 seconds... someone i know has a sign that has a pic of a shotgun and states "we do not call 911" and another that says "if you can read this, you ARE in range" there are quite a few different ones, some are a bit humorous, others will make one raise their eyebrows... but you really need POSTED, No Trespassing, Hunting, Fishing... signs that you write your name and property address on, and post them every few yards around the perimeter of you property. They are unattractive, bright yellow signs, usually sold at hardware/feed stores in packs of 25... then there is absolutely no doubt that people are not welcome on your property unless they come to the house and ring your doorbell...

hows the babe this morning?

Glad she is getting better. Prosecute this scum, trespassing animal cruelty. Next you could pepper spray the heck out of him or borrow a paint ball gun and have some fun. If that were me I would kick the living SH*# out of him, or might have introduced him to the mossberg 500 challenge. How fast can you run after hearing the distinct sound of a pump action 12 gauge loading one in the chamber

. I hope your girl makes a full recovery, you may still want to bring her to a vet for antibiotics etc. We are lucky here in the woods we adapted a half Lab half Hound who as it turned out is lovey with us but hell hound when anyone or thing comes around.
