The one chick that lived from the 8 eBay FBCM eggs I incubated appears to be a pullet. Has a feminine look to her. She's about 8 weeks old today.
I'm trying to get momma and her one pullet used to the FBCM by placing it in a small pen inside the run on weekends. I probably need to mover her out there full time.
Today, momma (a BO) and the FBCM got beak to beak, and the latter got her hackles up, literally, in much the same way as Buck (my EE rooster) when he is triggered by my legs. Fixin' to be a throw-down, even though momma is 3X as big as "Madie."
The question is, do hens get their hackles up like roosters do? I know they will flog each other when fighting, but never noticed the raised hackle feathers before.
I'll post some more pictures of her. I guess nothing is for sure for two more weeks.
