This hen has had a dirty butt for over a month now. stool sample showed threads worms, treated with safegaurd per the vet and also corrid water just to be safe. Still no change. We've got her quarantined to be safe. Not sure what else to do. This is a very nive hen that may daughter did very well with at the fair last year but we were unable to take her this year due to this issue.

I'm all ears...

What are you feeding her? It's best to stop treats and feed her only layer feed. If she continues with a dirty butt, give her plain boiled rice mixed with buttermilk. You can mix it in her feed if you wish. It should stop diarrhea.
Ensure that you remove feces on her rear end. You dont want fly strike to occur.
I use the garden hose with sprayer to spray off poopy butts, then release them and let them go about their business.
During cold temps, birds should be soaked in a container of warm water, then dried off accordingly.

As far as worming for capillary worms, I hope she was given the Safeguard orally for 5 days straight and not mixed in water nor feed. Capillary worms are killers.

have you cleaned her up? Ensure her vent is looking normal, nothing protruding or looking sore. Id get her tidied up, and then withhold treats for a while. Has she had access to grit, or is she able to forage her own? Is she drinking plenty of water?
What feed is she on currently? Is she laying normally?

yes we've cleaned her up a few times. vent seems normal. plenty of water, feeding layer pellets, but no foraging, we have her quarantined in a pen. hasn't laid an egg since the issue began

Good. Always giving wormers orally is best, that way you know they got properly treated without any guesswork. Same for other meds.
Putting wormers or meds in water is guesswork. You dont know if a bird drank enough of it to be effective or drank it at all, and sick birds rarely drink.

Sounds like it might be the worms, then. Hopefully it clears up once you're done administering the meds.

I'm not sure you need to keep her in quarantine at this point, unless I'm missing something. I'd think it would just stress her out and delay healing.
