My hen just hatched 2 eggs, I was wondering if I should do anything with them or leave them with the mother. My chickens are fenced in, once in awhile I let them free range. I'm not even sure when they hatched because I haven't checked the coop in a couple days and I went in earlier and just saw her sitting there and when I came back with water she got up and I saw them.

The easiest thing would be to leave them with her to raise. Depends on if you want to brood them yourself or not. Congrats though!
That was honestly the answer I was hoping for because I really didn't want to take care of more chicks at the moment. I just hatched quails a week ago and hopefully more will be hatching this week. I wasn't really planning on hatching more chickens right now but I've been busy and haven't been paying much attention to the hen sitting on eggs

It was a nice surprise to find them though, but I hope those other 2 eggs don't hatch

As of yesterday we have three chicks so far. Seems after days of eggs being hatched she gained three eggs when we looked yesterday. And, the noise coming from her is a sound I've never heard. She was mad and would not let us take the extra eggs she gained. I have one more to wait for. Hubby said leave the extra eggs because we don't know how long she has had them.

We are letting mama take care of the chicks. I do go in the coop and pet mama she gives me little cooing sounds when I do this. This is the first time we let her hatch her eggs. She is only 14 months old. I go in there pet her and change the water and wait to see if I see more chicks. Congratulation!

Interesting what I saw and found in the run. Cool

We heard peeps outside in the run. I looked and low and behold Mama brought out the chicks in the run. He took a photo. Cool. Hens and Roo is just looking at them. Double cool. I told him Mama will bring them out. She left her hatch. I hope she takes them back in. We have a jay in the run right now. Bottom of enclosure is fixed so the peeps can't get out. He acted like he did not believe me that mama will do this. Ching, I'm right.

Keep an eye on yours.
