I have a two year old hen that just finished her molt about six weeks ago. This week I've found three of these odd things. One near a soft shell, the other two alone. I've seen soft shelled eggs - this is different. More of a kidney bean shape, gathered on one side. The inside is just clear jelly like substance. Doesn't fall apart or bust when squeezed - the jelly holds its shape, almost like rubber or silicon. I've found the hen in the nest box twice, but no eggs. She has laid two regular eggs over the past week or two, but softer shelled than normal so they broke. Regular inside. What is going on? Are these ovaries or follicles? So odd.. I was thinking that, except for the firm jelly inside - definitely not egg white...

Also what exactly do you feed your flock?
Have you ever had any type of respiratory disease in your flock?

Can't tell you what is going on with your hen, but sometimes a bit of tissue sloughs off the oviduct wall and travels down the chute gathering albumen and tissue. One of these wouldn't be cause for a second thought, but more than one may be a sign of a disorder or bacteria infection.

What does her poop look like? That may give us a clue.

Since you're sure she is laying these anomalies, it would be best to treat her with a calcium citrate supplement so she doesn't end up egg bound. One tablet of calcium citrate each day for the next week should do it.
