I have a two year old hen that just finished her molt about six weeks ago. This week I've found three of these odd things. One near a soft shell, the other two alone. I've seen soft shelled eggs - this is different. More of a kidney bean shape, gathered on one side. The inside is just clear jelly like substance. Doesn't fall apart or bust when squeezed - the jelly holds its shape, almost like rubber or silicon. I've found the hen in the nest box twice, but no eggs. She has laid two regular eggs over the past week or two, but softer shelled than normal so they broke. Regular inside. What is going on? Are these ovaries or follicles? So odd..
