Hen laid first egg

We’re so excited today! One of our 20wk hens laid her first egg! Its a bit dirty, should we wash it (with what?) or leave it on the counter? I’m so happy and proud!

I would suggest getting something like this:

Add to top, take from bottom, ensures that you don't end up with old eggs mixed in. Only wash the eggs right before you plan on using them. I usually just fill up a measuring cup with water and drop the eggs in there for a moment to wash off debris before using. The room temperature dirty eggs will have a shelf life of 1-2 months.

EAT IT! I guess it's kind of a ceremony for us. It's usually such a tiny egg, but it's still an egg. We fry it up and enjoy their first eggs.
