yes--the egg does slowly spiral through the oviduct on its way down--it's just cool when the color SHOWS it!

It's very cool looking! I'm going to guess that the rough, raised situation is calcium deposit. Perhaps, considering her past eggs, she is still working out the calcium and color distribution.

I did not know about that spiraling action either. Fun info!
