Hen limping, black specks and not using 1 leg much

That’s a great idea.

My biggest concern is her being able to balance and sleep on the perch. I worry about her falling off. She couldn’t stay on the perch tonight for more than 2 min and even then she struggled to stay on until she finally fell off backwards.

Wondering how things ended up or are going with your hen? I see it's been a few months, but I've just read this thread tonight.

Awww:hugs
Can you set up some type of perch in the garage or her cage and work with her on balancing? Therapy? Of course low to the floor, but she hasn't used her legs for "roosting" in a while, with some practice, she may be able to strengthen those legs and feet.

I don't know if it's too late for your chicken, but I was going to suggest Googling the condition for home-made contraptions to help your chicken stand without having to put weight on the leg. I know because I had a rooster who may have had the same condition. I ran across bouncy-type contraptions online that people were using for rest while they tried to also incorporate some physical therapy themselves.

Lacey is currently doing great with the exception of balancing on a roost. She looks and acts normal as I can tell. When I let her outdoor every morning she runs to the small coop and up the ramp to lay her egg.

However I put her with the flock last night but she had difficulty with staying on the roost (I didn't know she couldn't balance until this happened) and when she fell off the flock jumped her. :hmm

I had a perch in her crate but she hasn't used it in a while. I took it out today and made her one that is removable to work with her.

Has anyone tried chicken roost therapy on an recovered injured chicken? What do I do? I Tried placing her on the "training" roost but she tries to jump or get off immediately.

Just Googled those after reading your post. That is pretty neat. How did you get your Rooster strong enough after the injury to go back with the flock and roost?

Sadly, I didn't find those early enough on to try. I should say that as I was trying to figure out what could have been wrong with him, I assumed it was a tendon since he had no other symptoms. I haven't been able to find a real chicken vet in my area. My rooster was able to move again after a few-several days in a crate in the house, but he'd already lost weight - it happened so fast. He wasn't able to roost; he'd head to a nest box nearby to sleep instead.
