Hello hoping for some help please. Omlette and the other 2 were let out yesterday for their daily free range and they all ran off at 100 miles per hour as normal to enjoy a good peck about. Then only 10 mins later I saw Omlette really hobbling on her left leg and now she just stands on her right leg. So it’s as if she has injured herself I couldn’t see any signs of injury and there is no swelling or heat in the bad leg but then on leg inspection I wonder if it’s scaly leg as I also noticed a kinda growth thingey which I have never noticed before. Other than yesterday she hasn’t been lame at all and it was really sudden. Eating, drinking and pooing ok and I have her seperated from the others. Here are some pics (the last one shows the growth above her ‘back claw‘ which almost looks like another claw growing - she has perhaps always had it as a deformity and I have just never noticed!) ....any advice welcome please thank you.
PS She is an ex commercial who has never fully grown back her feathers like the others have she is very bald and pink underneath age wise she is near to 3 years.

Have you looked at the pads of her feet and checked for broken nails or hang nails? Inspect closely in between the toes for any discoloration of the webbing. Bruises there are quite painful and the chicken will be reluctant to put weight on that foot.

One time I saw my rooster limping and holding his foot up under his belly. I looked at his toes and found a pine cone scale wedged in under the nail.

The growth on her foot looks like a spur growing. She likely has a little bump across from it on the there foot that may grow too. Have you looked at ht bottom of her feet? can you post pictures of the bottom of her feet? If there is nothing there, then I would assume she sprained it. I had a chicken that sprained her ankle and all you can really do is wait. If she did sprain it, you should build her a chicken sling and separate her form the others. The sprain should heal with time and minor movement. Here is a picture of spurs on another chicken with spurs.

Thank you. I did look at bottom of her foot and couldn’t see anything but I’ll take an extra close inspection...maybe post some pics if o see anything suspicious. Really appreciate your help. Thanks

Oh spurs! It definitely looks like that! Slightly less alarmed now....I’ll try to get some pictures. Thank you so much really appreciate it :)

I have some pics of the foot but think it looks ok? She seems a lot happier now she is in a small space on her own and can lay comfortably. Is there any pain relief i can get for her?
