Hen Losing Weight

If it was low, then she needs it not just for eggs, but other things as well.

Ok. I used my blender and I put 2 scoops layer crumble and 4 scoops water and blended it. It actually was small enough to get through the 20 French. It was tough, but I got the job done. Lol. My right arm is going to become bigger than my left (that's the arm I push the syringe with). My layer crumble has added vitamins/omega-3/probiotics. It's 17% protein with enough calcium for a layer! Whew! Now just to add yet another step to my morning routine before going to work! Lol. What I do for my animals.

What kind of layer crumble do you use?

My girl has officially gone pale now. She's still perky, but her comb and wattle are just barely rosey. I'm stumped as to what genetic defect could cause something like this. I just don't get it.

I use a King Layer feed. Its a GMO free, but it had all those added benefits that I really like.

Ohh man, she is doing so well. I wonder if she is anemic?? The vet said mine was slightly anemic, but she wasn't sure why. There are vitamin drops called nutri-drench that I really like. It seems to help her out.

With Tuesdays test they said she wasn't anemic. Can it happen that fast? She still perky and bright eyed which is good and the scale showed she gained another ounce. She likes to sit at the kennel gate making me feel guilty haha that or she's really enjoying the heat coming from the fire.

She has not laid. The vet questioned it but felt probably not. She wanted to xray and I can't do it. If she is egg bound way in there I can't see doing surgery there's no way she'd live. The tests didn't show any signs of a present infection which is good. I'll keep watching for changes.

Awww how cute! If she's acting good and gaining weight, I am sure she's probably fine. Maybe she's just stressed?? Doesn't sound like it....it seems like she's having a day at the spa lol. She's probably not egg bound. I would think if she was she wouldn't want to move, or do anything. As for anemia, I'm not sure how fast it can come on. I would think a couple of days atleast.

Quote: I'm assuming the 25 is the number of mg of praziquantel in the pill, so it works out like this 4.2 ÷ 2.2 = 1.90909090909kg x 10mg of praziquantel per kg = 19.0909090909 mg needed for your hen. 3/4 of a 25mg pill is 18.75mg, so that is slightly less than the recommended amount. Definitely not too much.
