And again thank you for all the help. I feel a little better knowing she passed as comfortably as she could have. Her belly was full, I had just given a dose of pain meds, and I the kennel was just cleaned. Without your help and support she would have passed two weeks ago and I would not have learned about the Baytril or tube feeding. I am forever grateful.

Thank you.  I'm glad she's not suffering anymore, although I still feel like I failed her.  I just really thought she was going to pull through.  I will be much more prepared if something happens again here.

I know it doesn't seem like it but you did not fail her, you really helped her. You made her comfortable so she did not starve. The most important thing to a chicken is food and water and that's what you gave her If anything she helped you learn what to do so if needed you can help your other chickens. I'm really sorry she did not make it. I have learned when working with animals that no matter how much you pour your heart into them getting better, sometimes they just don't. Animals are tough and resilient when it comes to being sick, they always try their best to get better. Your girl faught hard and so did you. You did a good job.

You're 100% right. It's stinging, but I do feel alright knowing we all tried our best. She did teach me a lot for the future. (as did you and Kathy) I had a moment of feeling sorry for myself, but now it's time to refocus on the rest of my critters before they think I'm neglecting them.

Quick question....how come the liquid doesn't require a prescription?? I tried looking into buying baytril tabs 22.7 and those needed a prescription. Is there a difference?

I'm not sure how they get around the legal issue, 'cause it's not. You can get the pills, but they're usually more expensive. I think Twin City Poultry sells both, but their prices are the highest I have ever seen. I use the injectable and think it's the way to go, especially if you have one that has a slow crop. Our last bottle was $35 for 100ml, but it's generic.

Liquid can be used on any size bird, pills can't, so you might want to consider getting it instead. If you decide you want liquid, PM me and I'll send you the link to the place I used last. I would post it here, but the last time I did that the feds shut the place down.

The Baytril showed yesterday as well as my extra syringes. I'm glad it will be on hand. I've decided I don't want to wait until next year for chick's so I'm picking up a few 2 1/2 year old buff hens on Sunday. They're unwanted and my coop is looking bare so I think it's just meant to be that they join us. They'll be in quarantine a while, but I'm sure they'll survive it
