Hen making funny noise and won't leave nest!

So last night I saw my hen head into one of the nests around 7:30... I thought it odd since they don't usually lay that late in the day. At 5 the next morning she was still in there... She never got out and is making this funny noise. It almost sounds distressing. Higher pitched and weak. I checked her for wounds and found nothing. She just went to another nest and has been there all day... It's 4:45 in the evening now.... Any ideas what might be wrong??

She sounds like she may be broody. Does she fluff herself up and make a funny noise or a scream/ warning sound when you go near her?

No scream, just that odd higher pitched odd wall cluck sound... I ca pet her and everything, though she doesn't like it... I'll see if I can break her broody.... Thanks for the help!!!

Another thought: could she be egg-bound?

Clucking does sound like she is broody. Broodiness will increase over a couple of days. She will pull out her feathers on her chest and belly to place her skin closer to the eggs. She should roll eggs under her if one is placed near her. She may also growl when you approach her nest. When you take he off the nest she may just sit where you place her, then may a beeline back to the nest, perhaps stopping to have a huge smelly greenish broody poop. If you have any doubt that she is broody, I agree to check her for a stuck egg.
