Feeding Wild Birds

Oh don’t tell me that! Now my neighbors are going to watch me fall off a ladder trying to pick those. Do they taste good?
Never tried any. All the Mountain Ashes I tried to grow here did not survive.

My neighbors did not see me when I fell off of a ladder picking cherries.

No photo to share, but I had a local sighting of a Pileated woodpecker today!

I was outside, and heard a slow, deep pecking sound. I spotted a large woodpecker high up on a tree in the woods next to my house. I knew my phone would be unable to capture an image at the distance, so I stepped inside and grabbed my Sony DSLR. The battery was exhausted  so I changed it just in time to see the woodpecker flying farther into the woods. Then I heard a rapid drumming.

I was very excited, as I've not seen a Pileated here in years.

I love those and for the longest time, they were my unicorn. I just couldn't find them anywhere. I knew they were around. But, the past couple years I've gotten to see a few at work and a few at random places and I now know what they look like flying. I saw one flying across the field as I was heading to town yesterday. I really wish one would find my feeders! I'd love to get a picture of one out there!

Speaking of my feeders, I had 4 blue jays, several Cardinals, multiple juncos, chickadees and titmice out there this morning. Everyone is chowing down! I couldn't get a picture but I had a blue hat hanging on the side of my suet feeder this morning. That was quite the sight! Especially since it's placed so they can stand on a branch and reach it lol
