In the Brooder
This is a post of several questions.
1. We have a Livornese hen who makes a weird sound, almost like a pigeon, or crying? It is the only sound we've heard her make and it is everyday. In 8 years of having chickens/hens/roosters we've never heard a hen make this sound. She seems happy and healthy and is laying, is this just her voice or should we worry?
We have a Vorverk that we separated from the flock with her roo to reproduce, but after 2 weeks she wasn't laying so we thought we might as well let them be free as it wasn't productive. We are pretty sure she has never laid an egg for us, is this normal?, shouldn't they be a productive breed?
We have neighbors behind and next to us who have complained about the roosters crowing all day and also starting super early, almost when it is still night, like 3-4 am. We don't have local ordinances that limit chickens/roosters, their noise whatever, but we like our neighbors and don't want to bother them. Is there any way to get them to crow less? I am thinking of giving away our roosters that we don't want to reproduce pure bred, although they are beautiful and if the right lady were to come along...
Any suggestions? Please don't say soup
