So I have been seeing Feathers in my Coop. A lot of them have been light Gray, but some darker.
So that means my Light Gray Hen is losing the gray ones and the others coming from one of 3 others possibly. They are 20 weeks old. So I read up today about looking for Pin Feathers. I turned my Gray Hen over at feeding this evening and she has a good many "pin feathers only around her Vent and up a bit higher. I looked as closely as I could and could not see any Mites around the bases of the Pin Feathers. At that point she decided I needed to put her down.
New chicken keeper here. Have 5, 4 Hens, 1 Roo in 12 x 10 coop with cement floor. I originally put some dirt on the cement and have used Straw for bedding and just have added to it trying to do the deep mulch method. All that has seemed to work fine since they made it out to the coop 12/22.
Any thoughts? Should I put DE in the straw, or get something to dust her with (even thought I do not see anything)?
