She just devoured some oatmeal. She was outside with the other girls and it seems having to compete for it made her eat? Could she possibly be depressed about being separated from her sisters?

Yes. Separating them can be very stressful. She just devoured some oatmeal. She was outside with the other girls and it seems having to compete for it made her eat? Could she possibly be depressed about being separated from her sisters?
Aw, poor thing. Makes me sad for her. She longs to be amongst them again. I just syringed her some yogurt and olive oil with a probiotic mixed in. I read somewhere on here that it’s helpful.Yes. Separating them can be very stressful.
I honestly don't see the point in keeping her separated but only IF they are going to be nice to her.Aw, poor thing. Makes me sad for her. She longs to be amongst them again. I just syringed her some yogurt and olive oil with a probiotic mixed in. I read somewhere on here that it’s helpful.
So far so good. They are all pretty nice. I’m letting her spend some quality time with them now, but I think I’ll still bring her in tonight because we’ve had a little cold snap and I don’t want her to get too chilled. Tomorrow I’m going to observe them all day and possibly let her stay the night in the coop if she seems perky enough and can roost.I honestly don't see the point in keeping her separated but only IF they are going to be nice to her.
I agree with @KikisGirls they do much better if they are with the flock. I do understand if you have had her separated for a few days, it's a good idea to re-acclimate her to the weather. A day out with her flock is a good idea.
Mine seem to eat better if they are with the others. You can also try wet feed to see if she will go for that.
I hope she recovers soon, please keep us posted.
Thank you so much. I truly appreciate all of your replies so much, more than I can express! I told my husband, “I just wish I had someone to bounce ideas around with!”. I know a few people with chickens, but no one that cares like I do. So I was SO happy to find this forum!
In the beginning I had the chick heater going in her sick box. Not a heat lamp, but the Brinsea EcoGlow kind. Last night and tonight I have her inside but without the heater, and our house is about 70 degrees at night. So hopefully this is preparing her for going back outside. I live in southeast Texas so it won’t be too much cooler in the coop.
You came to the right place! We're all chicken crazy here - a good group to be with![]()
