Hi.I'm new to raising chickens. We got our 3 blue wyandottes and 3 White Rocks last July, when they were a day old. Now they are 9 months old and have been laying for about 3-4 months. We don't have a rooster. The hens are not free range. They have a very nice, large coop and hen house. One of my Wyandottes wouldn't come out of the hen house on Saturday. When I picked her up, I noticed that all of her feathers on her breast and the length of her underside were completely gone. My husband called the local feed store to inquire and they mentioned she may be brooding and that we should try to keep her out of the hen house. We did that off and on for 2 full days, so she would eat and drink with the other hens. Today is Tuesday and yesterday and today she didn't have any interest in being in the hen house. She hasn't laid since Saturday. Is this normal behavior? She doesn't have discharge from her eyes, she isn't lethargic and from what I can tell, she seems to be behaving normally. What's going on here?
