Hen not laying but pretends every day?

What kind of feed are you giving her? I think I would give her just a touch of added calcium to see if I could help her get one out. She may kick back in gear.

We ended up culling her a couple weeks ago. She got pretty sick & ended up not eating or drinking in the end. I tried syringe feeding her along with some antibiotics, but it just wasn't enough & I decided that it was best to end it. I assume she had some type of reproductive infection or tumors or something. Just like yours @morsekathan. She was the longest living RSL I had at 3 years. Never again with the production types, they have it too rough.

No, def not broody. She's a RSL, this would be her 3rd year of life. She's eating, drinking & pooping normally. She laid an egg just about every day for her first 2 years, then molted in the fall but never stopped going in the nest box. She goes in & sits for an hour or 2 & comes out, sometimes singing an egg song. She will switch boxes & try them all out or chase the newly laying pullets out.

She never had any egg issues either, she laid good sized, perfectly hard shelled eggs till the molt.

I guess she is just a crazy ole bat!
I have a mixed flock of 15 hens and 1 rooster that are 6 months old and 6 are laying. The silver gray dorking is singing the " I laid an egg song " but no egg. 2 days of false alarm clucking!
