Hi - I (barely) remember having chickens when I was really young but this is the first time I've raised them. We have 2 girls (both black sex link) and 1 boy (barred rock) now. The girls are both about 5 1/2 months old and one has been laying cute little pullet eggs (pretty much 1 egg/day now) for about the last 4 weeks while the other doesn't seem to have even started yet. She is slightly smaller than the other but most people can hardly tell them apart. Should I be concerned or is she just taking her time? Thanks for any help.

P.S. This is a pretty old pic when they were much younger (and it turned out that all but the 2 black ones were male)!

Nothing to worry about at all. She'll come into it before long. I consider 24 weeks a better norm to expect eggs, 20 weeks is just too optimistic as 90% of your birds will start anywhere from 20 to 28 weeks for first egg.

x2 They are not late yet. Just give them time and you should have eggs soon.
