Hen not pooping, laying eggs, eatting, drinking, not wanting to walk or move.

Yes idk why my phone posted it on tht thread instead of my original thread oh well. But ya this is the same hen sadly
It's o.k. I just wanted you to know I had put the info there so I didn't have to retype it.

The photo you posted on the other thread - lovely hen!

Sorry for your loss. I would try to get a professional necropsy by your state poultry vetrinary pathologist, just because this is such a strange case. I may be wrong, but I think you can get a necropsy for $45 in TX on a backyard bird. Taking it in person would be less expensive than shipping. Many state vets will email a prepaid shipping label to ship overnight via Fedex or UPS.

If you cannot get a state vet necropsy, I would open her body and take pictures of all the abdominal organs, and post them here for opinions. I wonder if the grit was urates or uric acid produced by the kidneys, but I’m not a vet. It doesn’t sound like she was egg bound.

Here is a good link that shows the abdominal organs and labels them during a necropsy:

Just in a bag in the fridge. I told my husband $400 for the necropsy and examination of one of my other hens is worth it if it's something tht is contagious.
Will they do lab work(swabs, tissue histology), on both birds, too?
Are these vets avian experienced?

We have an appointment tomorrow with a vet to get a necropsy done and have one of our other hens examined to make sure it wasnt anything contagious

Glad you are going to get a necropsy.
$400 seems quite high - are you not going through your state lab? I think it's much cheaper through them. @Kiki do you know? (and KIKI why do you keep changing your user name :barnie)

It is definitely not that expensive here.
Not if you go through the state lab.
