Hen or Pullet 13 weeks Marans / Hen / Amaracana

13 weeks old, from a farm in PHX, no crowing yet, Black Marans of Olive Egger (all black slight copper on neck and 2 white spots rear), and my mystery fella (I think has Marans, feather feet but puffy cheeks) Amaracana. No pointy neck feathers on the grey one, but acts like a roo, bossy and smart as hell. I can only have 1 roo, and I just bought a few more chicks. Lack of any pointy neck feathers has stumped a lot of chicken experts. Comb is red st times due to our extreme heat conditions But grey one has 3 rows. Blackie single. Any help appreciated, love them both so either way is okay. Just need to plan for new chicks.

At 13 weeks he wouldn’t have pointy neck feathers. Your “grey” bird is a cockerel, the other if 13 weeks also I believe is a pullet.

That much red in comb says male.
Hackle(neck) and saddle feathers won't come in until about 4 months or so.

Agree, gray is a cockerel, and the black is a pullet.
