Hen or Roo

I'm wondering if Fluffy B, my Blue Andy, here is actually a roo. 21 weeks old and her comb is as red as my hen that is laying. There is no crowing but I have a BO roo that doesn't crow and a CL mix roo that does crow (He's the boss roo). Do Andies just lay later than average?

Hi there!

The chicken doesn't appear to have saddle or hackle feathers so I'd guess hen. That's before the tail and on the neck.

Not a rooster. See how the Buff Orpington rooster has long, thin saddle feathers near the base of the tail? Compare those feathers to the ones on the back of the Andalusian. Her's are all broad and rounded.

Thanks you guys. I'm sure I'm just being impatient, I checked the bones by her vent and it feels like two fingers can fit, so a couple more weeks then?

Beautiful pullet. We have a couple of Blue Andalusian girls and they look just like that. They have gorgeous comb development, much more than some other breeds.

Thank you! I think she's quite pretty too for being a hatchery girl. I'm hoping to get some splash girls sometime soon.

Ahh, she looks just the same as my girl, Keira. Definitely a pullet. Medium sized white eggs will be on the way soon.
