Hen or Roo?

I was going to rehome this silkie if it’s a rooster but I just can’t tell for sure.

The way you tell is that you lift it up by it's body. If the their claws retract, it's a rooster. If they are left dangling, it's a hen. Rooster are defensive. Hens are not. I was taught this at my local supplies store.
 
Lol..... maybe nonsense to you, but has worked for me every time. Don't knock until you try it. :)
I promise you, whether their claws retract or hang does not tell you anything about their gender. I have pullets who fight like crazy if you pick them up and calm cockerels who would let you dangle them all day.

Confirmation bias.

I've picked up plenty of chicks and how they hold their legs isn't even consistent for one bird being picked up multiple times, never mind across multiple birds of either sex.
