Hen or roo?

The problem with breeding for f2 olive eggers is there is no "olive" gene. It's the combo of blue with dark brown, so a good olive egger has both those genes. They basically have a 50% chance of passing each one on to any given offspring, so you'll have pullets that lay a combo of possibly olive, regular green and brown eggs.

Yes it seems like the day after I took that photo, his tail feathers developed into such an obvious arc. So far, he's a sweet one.

Thanks everyone for chiming in, and for the info on olive egging and the link. I'm excited to give it a try and see what we get!
