Hen or Rooster. Sussex

I think it's a young Sussex cockerel. A Brahma would have feathered legs and a pea comb, and yellow skin.

You'll probably have to get rid of one rooster at some point, but there's no harm in riding things out and seeing how they go. Sussex are slower to mature than a lot of production breeds, and silkies can be very submissive, depending on the bird. You'll just have to watch the two guys to make sure they're not hurting each other, and keep an eye on the hens to make sure they're not getting ganged up on.

I wouldn't lose hope just yet.

There are no hard and fast rules with chickens - they haven't read the manual

Just give them a bit of time and see how they go.

Ultimately, if things are not working out well, you will know about it!

Fingers crossed they will be friends and not enemies as they get older

If not, you could always get 20 more hens! (Chicken math to solve a problem, ha ha!)

Thanks everyone :) fingers crossed they remain friends.
I would love to get 20 more hens Krista!! If I only space allowed. Well technically we have the space, just not the housing. They roam free during the day in a very large paddock (almost 1000sq meters!) but the coop we lock them in at night isn't very big unfortunately :(
