Hen or Rooster?!

This chicken wandered up in my friend’s yard. She asked if I want it, but I have two roosters already. I’ve been wanting a speckled hen! Looks like a hen to me, but it’s hard to tell how old it is-and I’m relatively new at chickens Someone please tell me it’s a hen!

Unfortunately when I blow the picture up by opening it in a new tab, I can see what appear to be male hackle feathers coming in and just starting to peak out. I suspect it is a young cockerel.

It also looks like it might be double barred, and only cockerels can be double barred. I definitely could be wrong though

Oh darn, I see what looks like hackle feathers when I take a closer look too. I think @Pyxis is correct. Sorry.

Well...they found the owner! But it was a hen! It’s just so hard to tell!
