My leg horn hen is about to be 2 years old and shes my best egg layer, shes still laying even as the seasons get colder. However, she eats so much food... enough for 2-3 hens. She also drinks a lot of water and spills it all over her feathrrs over her neck and feathers (shes messy). Recently I noticed that her crop feathers are missing. Im not sure why or if its b/c she picks at the feathers since they get so wet. All her food digests overnight but shes had prior health issues and im not sure if theres anything wrong. It kinda looks irritated sometimes.

This overeating and drinking has been going on for a long time and shes larger than most leghorns. The bare feather spot is new

So you're sure her crop is empty in the morning?
What all and how exactly are you feeding?
What were her prior health issues?
Bare spot may be from molting.

I'm positive that her crop is empty in the mornings, I made sure of it this morning by separating her. I have a regular feeder (about 5 gallons) and leave it out there for them because the more shy ones don't get to eat when all the others are. She had wry neck as a chick which recovered through vitamin e, respiratory problems that spike in cold weather, she also got extrememly ill once and almost near death but I was able to get her to fully recover with the help of everyone on these forums. She also has a rather large abdomin but shes been laying very well.

When she drinks, her crop & neck feathers get drenched. She can't stop preening them and I saw her pull one out so I assume that's how her feathers became missing.
