Hen pecked

Good luck to you and him. Keep in mind that it sometimes can take weeks for pecking order to be established. And as he matures, that will all change again.

Hi Bobby J,

The cockerel does not go into the coop at night obviously feels unwanted. Should I physically put him in after dark? A little worried about foxes??? Steve

If he's not safe outside, I'd definitely put him in at night. I would also keep him with the hens during the day if they're not causing serious harm to him. As I said before, he's got to earn his place as flock master, and that's not going to happen right away. He needs to mature, and during that process, the hens will teach him some manners.
