Hen pecking me behind my back!

Man what a pain, pun intended
I like to bring a half of an apple with me or something else large enough to distract my chickens. I have three meat birds that are constant biters.

Also don't wear polkadots around curious chickens🤣 I made that mistake recently. I needed to fill their water right before going to church - in a blue dress with white polkadots. Needless to say that they were ALL pecking me, hard.

Oh my gosh, yes about polka dots! I almost always wear polka dots or stripes (my kids say I dress like a Dr. Seuss character). Both patterns are chicken targets.

Hey, dots and stripes are fun to wear 🤷but it makes us look edible to the chickens, bless their little bird brains.
Even my jeans with the little white daisy print are a no go!

That reminds me ...

If you have any freckles, moles, or age spots on your legs -- or less permanent lesions like fire ant bite scabs, etc. -- a chicken might peck at them.

My then 16yo was offended when a chicken took a peck at a fireant bite scab and I've had one take a small age spot off and leave me bleeding. The bird in question was terrified when I yelped and jumped.

As someone with lots of moles I can attest to this 😂
