I have an around 14 month EE hen named Tiny. 4 months ago, she became sick for around a week and we gave her dewormer medication and epsom salt baths and over time she became fine. Her comb got huge and red and she has silky clean feathers and she loves to run around the yard. She hasn’t laid a single egg since then. We thought she was either taking a long break or just stopped since she had been ill so we didn’t think much of it especially since she acted fine. About maybe 2 weeks ago our neighbors rooster was crowing (as it does) and this time we heard a loud crow coming from close by, like it was right outside our house. We were growing some straight run chicks, so we assumed it was just a rooster from that flock. We heard a crow occasionally, but one day we caught on video our hen Tiny crowing in response to the neighbors rooster. I know it isn’t too uncommon for a hen to crow especially with no rooster, but later we saw her do a mating dance(twice!) around a flock member she hatched with. She is the second highest in our flock’s pecking order. Any reasoning to why she is acting like this and to why is she is getting male hormones?
