I was wondering if this was normal or if anyone elses hens have laid this many eggs in one day. I go out there every single day and the first day she laid, there were 11 eggs and they were all normal and big. She now only lays one a day :)

You have been pranked, someone put a 11 store eggs in there, it takes 26 hours to produce a normal egg.

The process for making an egg starts with the germinal disk, then the yolk, then the albumin, then the membrane, then the shell- the shell take awhile to make- it is possible to get one egg with tow or three yolks, it is possible depending on when you check for eggs to get one early egg and it will look like two eggs the same day. Never more then that. New layers are not good at perfect eggs, large eggs, or 'pretty' eggs (eggs will be small, some will be rough or weird shapes), also a hen will lay an egg in the same color forever- the tint will get lighter throughout the laying season, but a blue egg layer will always lay blue, a brown egg layer will always lay brown.

Also hens take a break every couple of days- some lay 5 days and take a day, some lay every other day, some will lay 14 days then take a week off... depends on the hen.

Have fun-

(conciser a game cam if you want to catch the person)

I dont think that is possible...a single hen lays an egg approximately every 25 hours (I think that is right it may be every 26 hours) but any way it is not possible for one hen to lay that many eggs in one day...how many hens to you have that are near point of laying or that are laying?

Is it possible that she started laying 11 days before you noticed the eggs? Or you have other birds that are laying? It takes chickens 24-36 hours to make one egg. I really doubt that one chicken at start of lay would lay 11 normal sized eggs in one day.

I have a lock on my coop/run so nobody can even get in there. I only have one other hen and she was only 4 months old at the time. I do go out there every single day and now I only get one a day from her. The other one still isn't laying......... Maybe I just have a freak bird because I cannot figure it out. She is a RIR and her eggs are light brown. They have gotten bigger since then though. The other one is a blue marans so I'm not sure what color she will lay (dark brown I heard). I'm not saying that I am correct about her laying 11 eggs in one day but I have no clue how they would have gotten there???
