I am sure this kind of thing has been addressed but I can't seem to find a post about it. One of my hens is staying away from the others and I noticed this morning that there is a lot of chicken droppings stuck all over her butt. Can someone tell me what I might be up against here? I lost a hen last month that was staying away from the others but I think she flew into a post when she came down from her Purch.

I would set her in a pan of warm soapy water, and wash the poop off well, and make sure that she has no maggots or signs of fly strike on her. I would lock her in the coop or in a wire dog crate with food and water for observation. Is her tail held up or down? Can you get her drinking some water and eating some egg or food? Could she be laying eggs away from the coop to start sitting on them? Does she seem lethargic.
