Hen straining

My silkie hen that I got yesterday seems to be straining to get something out of her vent, I don’t feel a egg and she’s not pooping. Last night I soaked her in warm water for about 10 minutes then she decided to jump out. She hasn’t ate or drank, she doesn’t move around but is alert. Is there such think as a constipated chicken? I’m not afraid to put some gloves on.

Pop a calcium tablet into her beak. Calcium citrate if you have it. Tums if that's all you have. Her stress from the change of envronment likely has slowed an egg and it's now hung up. The calcium will encourage contractions to push it out. place her in a dim, quiet place, and let her rest. It should resolve in a few hours or over night.

Ok thank you I will do that, I don’t have tums but I can crush up some egg shells or oyster shells

Give her the Tums. The oyster shell and egg shells take too long to digest.
