Hen that continues to lay soft eggs??

My EE does the same thing. She acts fine and not all her eggs are like that. Hers are generally the hardest in the bunch. I heard somewhere that some chickens don't like the o-shell so it has to be spiced up in some way. I have 3 kids, 3 dogs, a cat, 50 chickens and 11 goats so I really don't have time to make a special meal for one chicken.

My husband works with a guy who eats 20 hard boiled eggs in one sitting and he saves out all the yolks for our chickens. Occasionally I crunch up some of their eggshell in the hard boiled eggs and mash them all up so they don't have a choice but to eat the shells (calcium).

I have a barred rock that will not eat oyster shell so I give her ground up egg shells and cottage cheese and regular cheese too. She seems to need more calcium than the others. As long as I keep this up she does well.

This is what I got from one of my girls this morning. It is two mini soft shell eggs that are connected. Kinda gross! Sorry the pic isn't very good.

Wow! That is so strange. My 1st barred rock (when she was alive) would lay leathery eggs at times. It was so odd but then the next day she would lay a regular one. A lot of strange things go on in those little bodies....and minds for that matter.
