As I said, once a hen lies down and closes her eyes, there isn't a good prognosis. Many of us with years of raising chickens have learned the signs. If your intuitition tells you there's a chance your hen can be helped, by all means treat. I suggest you treat for toxin ingestion as I mentioned in post #8. If you have a feeling your hen isn't going to get better no matter what you do, here's a good method of euthanizing. I've used it the past two times i had to ease a chicken and me out of our suffering.
