Hen/turkey relationship

October of last year we took in an orphan turkey poult, everything has been fine till today.He was on top of one of our red star hens attempting to breed her.He had both feet on her back so she was supporting his total weight,could he potentially harm her because of the size and weight diffrence,he's a good sized bird.

I don't have turkeys...............yet. (they are on order for this spring) But I have heard that Tom's can kill chicken hens by trying to mate with them. I'll move this to the turkey section so you get more responses.

Your tom certainly can kill you chicken hens by trying to mate them. Best to get him an appropriately sized girlfriend or two....he must be rather frustrated to be going after the chicken girls. Good luck!
