Hen vomiting

That sounds like a tasty nutritious treat. I think she could use a special tasty treat right now. It’s a cracker here in Nelson today had a couple of cold, wet days earlier this week tho. Bring on summer!

KiwiChook I hope your girl gets okay.

Sorry to hear the vet was a butthead. Mine made a house call even after my girl passed away and checked all my girls, the coop and food and everything. Charged me $10 so not all of them are brainless and inconsiderate.

Thanks Cetawin.
She seems to be eating and moving around ok today. She is still rolling her head and neck around while trying to swallow. I heard her make a weird gulping noise too. Her crop is still puffed up. She is obviously experiencing discomfort in the throat, crop area. I wish the vet had paid a little more attention to her. She is still excited to see me and comes running over but after a while she just stands still, pulls her head in and half closes her eye’s.

Poor little thing. I hope she beats this.

Just for fun.. have you considered her croop to be infected? Maybe try an old fashion antibiotic like garlic.. even black pepper.. only black pepper will aide to swelling once swallowed. but a day on garlic mash may help?

Can't hurt.

Hi iajewel,
I'm trying a garlic remedy at the moment. It’s too soon to tell if it’s working yet. The good new is she doesn’t seem to be getting worse… just not getting better either.

Thanks,

it takes time for things to heal.. so thats not a big thing. Now in 30 days if you dont' see a diffrance.. then its a worry. Let me call my vet in the morning and just see what he says.

It sounds like you have a great vet and I would be very grateful for any ideas or suggestions he/she may have.
Thanks again.

I love my vet.. he is awesome. If he recomends anything I will get it and send it to you.. or I will tell you what he said to do if its a kitchen fix..
Im sure your hen will be fine.. she is hanging in there and thats what counts.

Hi Kiwichook
I got a copy of a posting that said she was running up to you, so that's a good sign. I suggest that tomorrow you offer her bread and milk, she may have a sore throat, so she is a bit miserable and wants you to fix it. Let me know how you go.
Cheers
Lisa.
