Hen wasting - any hope - is it always Mareks?

My poor Tove died despite my valiant efforts to save her, I sent her to Cornell for necropsy and receive the initial report from the Doctor today - lymphoma/lesions - these are consistent with the other birds I have lost so no shocker. I will of course share the final report so we can all learn as much as possible. 50% flock loss at this point - my remaining birds are healthy right now just praying they stay that way <3

I’m beginning to feel hopeless and helpless and totally understand your frustrations and sadness involved in all of this.
So sorry. :hit :hugs:hugs

It's hard, I know. But as long as you're breathing... there is still hope! ;) :fl

After you and your flock pull through this... maybe spread the word about responsible ownership and the best ways people can avoid bringing it to their flock. :)

Thank you so much and Absolutely! I’ve been telling everyone everything I’ve learned....even the Doctor said that most of the necropsys he has done in NY for backyard flocks have been the same story....”I rescued a chicken...I got my chickens from Tractor Supply...”...his opinion is to only buy from reputable hatcheries and if Mareks is a known threat which it is across our entire state to either buy vaccinated or expect losses. He has seen loss percentages a low as 5-10% with this method. There’s always hope, just sad to lose my sweet girls to such an awful disease!
