Hen with a thorn in her foot!

I noticed one of my RIR hens was limping the other day and got to checking her out and found a thorn stuck in the bottom of her foot. When i pulled it out some puss came with it. It has been a couple of days and her foot is still swollen and she is still limping. What should i do for her?

I would soak the foot in warm water with a squirt of Betadine, then apply an antibiotic ointment (be sure it has no "caine" drug such as cetacaine, benzocaine, etc.) and wrap with vet wrap. Repeat once or twice a day for a few days. If this isn't enough, you may need to give penicillin.
