We have a hen with big sharp spurs. Is this common? We have around 40 hens and she is the only one with spurs. Im very confused

I have a buff orp who has a fairly big spur but only on one side. Funny thing, we thought she was a roo when she was young. She had the biggest, reddest comb and waddles and looked roo like. But she's a girl, I've seen her lay eggs. She is also really sweet but def has roo qualities as far as looks.

It happens. I've got some Polish with spurs, and when I did in my Wyandotte hens, about half of them had spurs. It isn't wanted, but it can happen, especially with careless breeding.

We have 3 buttercup chickens. The roo has humungous spurs, and the females also have pretty pointy spurs too.

I will put up pictures tomorrow when i can have my son hold her. thanks for all the info so far
