Hi there,
I've got a question about my beautiful Silkie x Pekin. I got her at 4 weeks old and at about 8 weeks old she and my two other chicks got bad eye infections and she was unable to open one eye. They had no other symptoms. The vet gave me eye drops, which cured it quickly. While she was recovering, I noticed occasionally that after the drops, she would limp for a minute. Over the next few weeks, she stopped being able to use one foot at all. To look at, there isn't anything wrong and she lets me touch it without pain, but she hasn't put weight on it since then. She's actually our best layer, is very tame, and we keep her safe from predators, so I don't worry about her quality of life in our tiny flock. But I do wonder if anyone has any ideas about what might have happened? I'm new to chickens and I find the whole thing so bizarre. Thanks!
