We noticed our 1 year old Buckeye hen had Bumblefoot about 7 days ago. The black plug was very small, but the foot was swollen, hot and the pad was hard. We have soaked the foot, removed the plug surgically, and she has had 3 doses of Penicillin (.25 cc each). She is eating and drinking, seems perfectly content in her little hospital box in the barn. She even ate a huge beetle that got within her reach tonight - ugh.

She is passing green runny poo, and she seems to have lost a lot of weight. Buckeyes are a heavy breed, and she is way too light.

Besides the foot care, what should I be giving her to eat to supplement her diet? She is normally free range and gets layer pellets free choice. I currently have Flock Raiser in the barn because we also have 9 week old pullets that can't have the layer feed.

So plenty of water, Flock raiser, the occasional bug, and ......... what else can I give her to fatten her up a little.

This is NOT a bird we will ever eat I may add.
