Hello everyone!
New to Backyard Chickens, but wanted to join because I’m am seeking advice on what to do with one of our girls. This has happened to another one of our hens a few months ago, and we’re thinking it’s due to our roos’ spurs. The picture I’ve attached is our most recent discovery. When I discovered this hole a few weeks ago, we quarantined Oreo in the basement for about 2 weeks or so and applied Hen Healer Multi-Purpose Ointment every once in a while. We ended up letting her back out once we separated the roo from her flock.
This is currently what her wound looks like...
She seems to be OK, isn’t sickly and seems to be getting around fine.
However, does that look like dirt clots lodged into her wound? And should I try to remove them? Is there anything else I need to do?
ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
