hen with infected vent

I was trimming up everyones butt feathers tonight because they were pretty nasty from the rain lately. My oldest wyandotte hen , who has ALWAYS had a huge butt poof, had a god awful smell coming from her rear and after grabbing her to get a better look I discovered she has what looks like maybe a yeast type infection going on from the poo and moisture that was built up. I clipped her feathers down and got all the dry stuff off but also had to remove a "chunk" of yellow/white soft cheesy looking gunk from just below her vent and just inside slightly. The tissue under looks healthy still and there was some blood after removal. The vent area, especially above is swollen some too.

The hen is acting normal still and was happily cleaning her butt when I left the coop.

I don't really have any experience with this type of thing so would like some advice for treating it. Thank you.

Alright you explained the situation well so here is what I do when something like this comes up and yes you did every thing up till now correctly... So next in the day time wash her rear-end with some no tears shampoo real good and let dry or use a blow dryer she should like that then you can return her to the coop or what ever you do with your chickens but you will need to keep an eye on her for several weeks

And a hard boiled egg every other day for a total of 3 egg's will help build up some immunity

Thanks gander007, I didn't wanna get her all wet tonight and take her back out so was gonna do it in the morning. She's not acting sick or painful and theres no bugs back there so hopefully it won't take long to clear up. I figured a good washing would be the most helpful but I was also thinking of applying some antifungal cream to back there as well. I'm hoping the swelling will go down some by morning, that was the most worrying to me tonight

I have to agree with you morning is great and the antifungal cream is a nice idea
as well sounds like you have this down ...

She was doing great today, everything looks much drier back there but I'm going to keep up with the cream for a few days still. I may also switch them back to fermented feed as well to help her heal quicker .
