Hi everyone I have had a hen who has had a lifted scale for about 2 years now so I never thought anything about it. I would give her a spray that was suppose to be for lifted scales but it never did anything. However today I found out she has gained more lifted scales. What can I do? She eats well she moves around fine and doesn't seem to be in any pain. Any help is appreciated.

Soak her legs in some warm soapy water (if it is not cold where you are) and VERY GENTLY use a toothbrush to clean the scales, then apply a generous amount of Vaseline onto the legs and separate her. the Vaseline will suffocate the mites.

Looks like scaly leg mites. Soak in warm water to remove any dead scales, then suffocate the mites with petroleum jelly, or use other products made for this. If the other flock members have it treat them all, and you can disinfect their coop with things like Diatomaceous Earth.

DE isn't all that effective with mites. Using something that contains permethrin is far more effective. You can either spray down the coop with a diluted mix of it or get something like Gardstar Poultry & Garden Dust.
