I have a 4-5 year old hen that's been sneezing. She's bright, alert, eats and drinks well and lays an occasional egg. But she just keeps sneezing. Sometimes she breathes with an open beak. (of course it's summer in Texas, so she's hot, but there are times when the others don't seem hot and she is open mouthed)
No bubbling eyes, or raspy sounds. Just persistent sneezing for a number of weeks now. I've watched her carefully, but no other symptoms. Can chickens have allergies? Or should I treat with antibiotics? I have oxytetracycline, and denegard. I'm reluctant to isolate/treat when she's active, happy -- but this sneezing has lingered for too long to ignore. None of the other chickens are sneezing or show any sign of respiratory issues.
thanks in advice for words of wisdom.
