Hen with sour crop? - black drippy foul-smelling liquid when vomitted

Pouring water over the beak will not keep your hen hydrated. You'll have to learn the procedure for tube/crop feeding if you want to continue keeping chickens or any other bird that may get sick. here is some info from a bright woman on this forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...-for-visuals-very-detailed-post#post_11652991

Some foods you can offer are bread soaked in buttermilk, scrambled egg, or what is recommended on the link posted above.

This was her poop (black, oily, runny diarrhea) about 30 minutes after her first antibiotic pill.
Has she been dewormed? ---------------- Valbazen dosage on this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/606881/valbazen-de-worming-question Safeguard: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...er-for-chickens-can-it-be-used-in-their-water Kathy has good info at the bottom of this thread. #14 https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/688579/fowl-pox-what-to-do-with-flock#post_12532231

I am sorry for the result, which is not clear... What kind of antibiotics did you get?

But it is a good thing that her abdomen and crop are clear!

How about Greek yogurt, oats, dried meal worms, fresh meal worms and so on... These are my chickens's favorite's.

Good luck to your hen indeed!

My sick chicken has had some weird poops when she was taking antibiotics.

If the bird is on any kind of "cycline" antibiotics, you have to keep dairy out of the diet and mineral supplements. Both will block absorption. Vitamin c helps with the absorption of cycline antibiotics.
