A few weeks ago, we introduced some golden wyandottes to our coop of mixed breeds. One of our old hens has been pretty nasty to any new birds we try to introduce, so it took a couple weeks for our flock and the new hens.
Today, I went out to see one of the new wyandottes sitting in the corner, eyes closed, tail down, etc. Separated her from the flock to try to get her to eat but I guess her depth perception is whack and she didn't have much success. I moved her to a separate pen in the shade where she has more success with getting water (we have a drip system) from a dish.
Her eye is swollen and crusty, and there is some black spotting as while as blood around the area. I've seen the old hens pecking at her so I'm not sure whether this is from the bullying or an infection? Thanks in advance.
